Hotel Occidental Aurelia

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! First impression of the hotel was not good. Half of the illuminated letters of the hotels name are not working. Two of the hotels alleged four starts are not lit up too. Doesn’t bode well when you arrive and it’s the first thing you see. There was confusion at reception when we arrived. We’d booked two rooms, two of us in one room and a third in another. We’d also added on an extra night as a separate booking. On arrival to the rooms, no kettle in either which was a disappointment as we were much in need of refreshments. We asked at reception for a kettle for each room. Only one kettle was delivered, not a major problem but only two cups were provided and there was three of us. On the second day we managed to get another kettle. No milk or cream was provided and they don’t top up what you use so we had four coffee sachets between three of us for a seven night stay. One room had no slippers where the other had two pairs. One room got two bottles of water and cakes during our stay and the other nothing. Breakfast is nice but got boring. They need a decent toaster and not a panini machine. It’s absolutely useless and doesn’t toast bread. On Tuesday there was no water at all and on Wednesday there was no hot water! Definitely not a four star hotel!

Good hotel if you are just staying in Rome for a few days. You can book with included breakfast which has some savory and sweet classic options like yogurt, cereal, eggs, sausages and fruit. The service was really nice and helpful and our room was good for the price and really clean. Even tho it isn’t in the center of rome if you get taxi you can drive there in about 15 minutes. Overall nice hotel
